As the summer winds down, Labor Day passes and the first hints of seasons’ change appear; back-to-school routines, Sunday & Monday Night football and national elections quickly approaching, it feels like time for a collective sigh.
Why Sigh?
The acceleration of time is truly unsettling; both for those trying to keep pace and those left in the wake of unprecedented changes and challenges that impact every aspect of our lives.
There are several anchors that we can reach for and hold onto to still ourselves. I call them bodymindspirit anchors that help us regain our bearings, re-assess our responses and re-establish our priorities. I’d like to share 2 of 5 anchors that I find particularly helpful:
- Practice Gratitude for the Journey – I recently reviewed the last 8 months of 2012 to identify accomplishments and wins in my personal and professional affairs. Then I expressed appreciation for each victory, remembering the individual and collective effort, the spiritual and practical resources, coupled with the discipline to stay the course.
I also acknowledged areas where I missed the mark and gave thanks for what I learned.
- Prepare a Bold Prosperity Goal – On Labor Day, I developed my bold prosperity goal for the September – December 2012 timeframe. In essence it’s the financial revenue I want to generate during the next 4 months. Next I plotted out The Wright Resort programs & services, marketing calendar and cash flow projections to achieve my bold prosperity goal by December 31, 2012.
Rather than tedious, the process was actually invigorating. Completing the process with a list of specific action steps empowered me, so that I felt like I was re-claiming my power, getting into the driver’s seat again, and taking dominion in my life. I’m already experiencing gratitude for my intentions, action steps and results!
As you look to the final quarter of 2012:
- What do you want to achieve?
- How are you defining your priorities?
- In what ways do you envision your life different?
- Where can you find support to help you fulfill your intentions?
I encourage you to use these anchors. I will elaborate on 3 more anchors in the next blog.
