If You’re Not Living Your Soul’s Calling, Who Is?
Are you settling for stress, mediocrity or stagnation?
In my own life, as I sought to find and fulfill my purpose, I accepted jobs and assignments that helped me earn a living to support myself and my son. I excelled in some jobs and languished in others, ultimately recognizing that I was not being all I was meant to be or doing what I really yearned to do.
In my work with mature women career professionals and entrepreneurs who feel undervalued, frustrated and stressed, I find that a fundamental cause of stress is not accepting your soul’s calling or living your soul purpose. It is not honoring that deep inner desire, true essence and innate creativity.
2019 – Is this Your Year?
Can you “feel” the potent energy of deep transformation? Are you in the “creative” flow?
Are you ready to:
- Chart a new direction and explore different territory to expand your horizons?
- Re-invent yourself or your work to contribute your spiritual and intellectual resources in bold, creative, dynamic ways?
- Release the mental and emotional chatter, break through self-imposed limitations and free yourself to be all that you can be?
- Say “YES” to up-level your leadership, expand your visibility and influence in your career, business or community?
- Celebrate who you are and what you do because you’re being authentic, doing great work and having fun?
These are some of the questions that I’ve been asking myself as I step into the decade of my 70’s. What is the “new story” that I’m creating?
Farewell 2018, Welcome 2019
New Year Blessings and Greetings. As you reflect on the past year,
- Identify an experience that challenged or stretched you.
- What was a significant lesson or insight?
- For what are you most grateful?
I’m most grateful for quality time with family and friends, particularly my Village Family, Spiritual Family, Conscious Evolution Family, Business Mastermind Family and Birth Family. I’m grateful for good health and financial growth as well as the spiritual, social, cultural, business and political engagements that challenged, delighted, stretched and grew me in myriad ways!
The Magic of Silence and Stillness Countering the Madness, Settling into Center
What’s all the rushing, hustling, shopping about…the addiction of commercialism and materialism that leads to hoarding and debting?
Ah, the holiday season—from Halloween Trick or Treat to Thanksgiving indulgences; Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Tuesday Giving, Christmas and the-day-after Christmas sales. Even as I write this, I feel exhausted and choose to take deep slow inhalations and exhalations to re-center myself.
For some people it’s quite an effort to remember/resurrect the true meaning of the Holy Days, the Season of Advent. It is indeed a deeply transformational time. It is noted that:
Illuminate Your Soul’s Call-to-Action Now!
The Mid-Term Elections have passed. However, the impact, consequences and opportunities resulting from the outcome will shape the trajectory of this country and the world for generations to come. Hearty Congratulations to all the Women Democrats who won at the local, state and national level! And of necessity, the next phase has begun…
Having expended energy and funds to support candidates and causes, it may be prudent to pause; reflect; refocus efforts and renew yourself before years end. Time off, time out and time in…
Evolving from Self Care to Soul Care
Stress is being out of alignment, balance and coherence by not honoring or expressing your true essence, soul’s calling and innate creativity, a condition that leads to dis-order and dis-ease mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually; and is therefore reflected in your external environment.
Recognizing the grave impact of stress on your health in relationships, finances, livelihood, my work with women initially focused on the importance of incorporating daily self-care practices to help release stress.
Finding Balance during Changing Times
In the Northern Hemisphere we’ve begun the Autumn Season; my second favorite season highlighting nature’s profound, beautiful changes. Seeds of intention were planted at the start of the year, cultivated during the Spring. Some of us enjoyed succulent Summer Fruits, while others look forward to the Autumn Harvest.
Autumn is also a season of letting go. In the same way that trees begin to change creating an awesome array of colorful foliage that eventually falls…red, gold, orange, yellow maple and oak leaves carpeting the earth, we too must let go.
Approaching Autumn with Apprehension and/or Appreciation
“These times call for us to break free from mental and emotional bondage; make use of our finest talents to help liberate ourselves and those we serve. This is also the call of our individual and collective soul to be healed, whole and healthy.” – Harriet Tubman Wright
It’s been another challenging year for many of us. We’ve encountered unprecedented political mayhem, intensified weather catastrophes,
heart-breaking losses, heart-warming wins and more. Very few if any of us are coming through this year unscathed! We’ve resisted, endured, risked and triumphed. Yet, there is more to come…
• For what are you most proud?
• In what ways have you been victorious?
• What have you yet to complete or achieve?
Approaching the final quarter is a good time to assess how and where you’ve been.
Changing Times, Changing Perspectives, Changing Lives
Change is always happening. However, over several years, change has been deepening, accelerating and intensifying. These “shocks” to our humanity and our environment are unsettling.
As a consequence, my emotions have been cycling from rage, resignation to deep sadness. It’s been essential to feel the feelings before I could accept that the extremes of fear, violence and destruction showing up locally and globally, and what’s coming up personally are connected. These inner and outer experiences are also being revealed to be healed. Framing changing conditions in this way has allowed me to accept:
•Things get worse before they get better
•This too shall pass
“The greatest revolution in our generation is that of human beings, who by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.” – Marilyn Ferguson
Therefore, change is a matter of perspective, our beliefs and attitudes
If You’re Not Answering Your Soul’s Calling, Who Is?
In other words, are your expressing your true nature, living your divine purpose, doing what you most love? Your Soul’s Calling is what you’re born to be and do! It energizes, motivates and sustains you…and it lights you up and those with whom you interact. Your Soul’s Calling frees and fulfills you to express your deepest passion with dedication and delight!
From an early age some of you know what you’re here to do. You focus your education, develop your talents, sharpen your skills and pursue your heart’s desire. You want to become the best you and over time become a master, whether an artist, engineer, teacher, firefighter, athlete, doctor, entrepreneur or public office holder. You’re good at what you do and can honestly say, “There is nothing else I’d rather be doing.” Such is the case with the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, Steve Jobs, Louise Hay, icons like Steph Curry, Jean Houston, Chadwick Boseman, Joel Olsteen, statesman Ronald V. Dellums, author Danielle Steele, as well as the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai and cellist, Sheku Kanneh-Mason!
